What’s a Contract CFO?
A Contract CFO is a financial expert who provides financial support to multiple companies. As a Contract CFO, I work with clients small and large, helping with a variety of financial needs, on a retainer, hourly, or project basis. Unlike a traditional CFO, my services are flexible to meet a company’s needs and scalable as a company changes over time.
My services fall into three categories:

Contract CFO
Need an experienced CFO but don’t want to hire someone full-time? This option is for you and your company. Together we will come up with a financial strategy and then I will work with you to execute it - from fundraising to cash flow to forecasting to reporting.
Modelling and Forecasting
Good business decisions start with understanding the implications of those decisions. My business models give a picture of the future of your business as the company changes. These models are fully custom built to match the structure and logic of your business and allow the user to freely change assumptions to understand where they are heading and do “what-if” analysis.
Data and reporting
Fully understanding your business is crucial to making it go where you want to go. I help with data and reporting to increase that understanding within a company. This process includes data management to improve accuracy, timely and visual reporting to improve understanding, and targeted KPIs to inform and impact business decisions.
Who is Matt Briggs?
After graduating Colby College in 2009 with a BA in Economics, I chased a dream of making the 2014 Olympics in cross-country skiing. That dream took me to Craftsbury, Vermont and then to Bend, Oregon. In 2014 I joined Picky Bars as the Director of Finance and Operations, where I learned a lot about what makes small businesses function. I left in early 2018 to start my own business as a Contract CFO. Since then I have worked with all sorts of businesses, from start-ups to publicly traded companies. I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients on many different financial projects, all with the goal of helping them accomplish their missions by making better decisions.
In my spare time, I still love living in Bend - skiing in the winter, running and riding bikes in the summer, and doing home improvement projects year-round.
